Anahit Harutyunyan Gaskill


Anahit Harutyunyan Gaskill, violoncello, is the founder, Executive Director, and manager of the Musica Bella Orchestra. She is a graduate of the Yerevan State Conservatory in Armenia, where she studied cello with Eghishe Harutyunyan and Medea Abrahamian and chamber music with Nikolay Pogosov. She began teaching cello at a young age, and has spent most of her career on the faculty of the Khachaturian Music College and the Tchaikovsky Shool for Gifted Children, both in Yerevan, Armenia. Many of her students have become professional musicians in Armenia and Israel.
    She also played in the Armenian State Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra and the Teachers’ Chamber Orchestra. Since moving to America in 1993, she has continued teaching cello, and plays chamber and orchestral music with many ensembles. She is the former associate principal cellist of the Doctors’ Orchestra, the Lawyers’ Orchestra, and the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony in New York.
    She has appeared as a soloist with the Musica Bella Orchestra in the Vivaldi Double Concerto on January 27, 2002, the Brahms Double Concerto on December 8, 2002, and again in the Vivaldi Double on October 1 and 4, 2006.
